JAKARTA | KBA Anies’ rejection of PDIP’s offer for the gubernatorial candidacy in West Java directly refutes allegations that he is power-hungry. Any available position would be taken. Such accusations are thus inherently disproved.
Political Communication Analyst from Esa Unggul University, M. Jamiluddin Ritonga, believes that Anies Baswedan’s choice to reject the offer to run as governor of Bandung, West Java in the 2024 Local Head Election (Pilkada) was very appropriate.
The choice of Anies Baswedan to reject PDIP’s offer to become the gubernatorial candidate for West Java was correct. With that choice, Anies is free from accusations of seeking positions, said Jamiluddin contacted by KBA News in Jakarta, Friday, August 30, 2024.
He appreciated the former Jakarta Governor’s consistent stance toward the Jakarta community rather than advancing in West Java.
According to him, what Anies Baswedan conveyed in rejecting his nomination as gubernatorial candidate for West Java, because there were no requests from the people of Bandung nor political parties in the region. Thus, that became the consideration of the former Minister of Education and Culture.
Anies remains consistent, willing to be nominated because of the people’s requests. He demonstrated this by rejecting the gubernatorial candidacy for West Java because there were no local requests, Anies added.
The former Dean of FIKOM ISIP Jakarta sees that by rejecting PDIP’s offer directly dispels allegations that Anies Baswedan is power-hungry.
So, by rejecting PDIP’s offer for the gubernatorial candidacy in West Java, Anies directly denies allegations that he is a power-hungry individual. Whatever position is available would be taken. Such accusations are thus inherently disproved, he stressed.
As known, Anies Baswedan officially canceled his candidacy in the West Java gubernatorial election through the PDIP political party. Then Anies thanked the political party that offered him the candidacy.
Mr. Anies expresses thanks of course to the political party that asked Mr. Anies to advance in West Java, said Anies Baswedan’s spokesperson Sahril Hamid during a press conference at Anies’ residence, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 30, 2024.
Sahrin also confirmed that Anies would not advance in the West Java gubernatorial election. He mentioned the reason for the lack of community aspirations in West Java. Sahril recounted Anies expressed thanks for the offer available to him.
It has been decided that Mr. Anies will not advance in the West Java local election. We know that in Jakarta, there are indeed many community aspirations asking Mr. Anies to advance in the Jakarta local election, and that is reflected in the decisions of the party at the regional and local levels asking Mr. Anies to advance in the Jakarta local election. However, indeed in West Java, there is no specific request from the community nor aspirations from political parties at the local or regional levels, he explained.
Therefore, seeing that, Mr. Anies expresses thanks to the party that asked him to advance in West Java, with various considerations indeed Mr. Anies will not advance in West Java, he concluded.
The refusal from the same party to be nominated in the West Java gubernatorial election is considered the right step.
Anies shows his true character. Anies certainly knows what he needs to do to maintain dignity and self-respect. Anies relies only on Allah. Meaning he is truly steadfast on Allah’s path, explained the Chairman of the German Alumni Communication Crosslink, Meidy Juniarto, to KBA News Friday, August 30, 2024.
According to him, Anies was not nominated by PDIP in Jakarta because the former Jakarta Governor did not want to become a party functionary. Anies did not want to be intervened by the party when running the government.
Because he really wants to be a public servant. He is a free person, who wants to work on Allah’s path for the nation’s benefit, especially the residents of Jakarta. He also never applied, pleaded, or registered. But he was approached by individuals from the largest party to be nominated, he revealed.
For West Java, he continued, Anies’ refusal shows that he is not a position hunter. And the reasons given by Anies were also correct, that he did not accept the nomination because it was not based on the aspirations of the people from the Land of Pasundan but at the request of the party alone.
This is different from Jakarta, where the push from residents for him to lead again is very strong as seen from various declaration activities, and also through official decisions of party administrators at the lower levels forwarded to the DPP, as also occurred in PDIP.
Well, this one (West Java) is only requested by the party. Not based on the aspirations of the community. That’s why he refused, said the man who had lived in several European countries such as Italy, France, the Netherlands, and settled for a long time in Germany.
However, in this senior lawyer’s analysis, Anies also has instincts that he will be thwarted again like the DKI case. Therefore, he refused before being embarrassed again.
Approached (party elite) as if they wanted Anies, but in the end, Anies was embarrassed. Anies did not want to be trapped for the second time. Not like a donkey that falls into the same hole twice. But Anies plays it beautifully. Pretends to accept at first, then he refuses later, he said with a small laugh.
Not advancing in the 2024 simultaneous local elections, he emphasized, will not disappoint Anies. Because Anies is only dependent on Allah. Relying on Allah is something very valuable.
It cannot be replaced by the world and everything in it, Meidy Juniarto concluded. (kba)
