The Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia has just announced that the best and the highest province in the national level of labor welfare in 2021 is the Jakarta Provincial Government.
This announcement coincides with the recently concluded congress of the Labor Party and their selection for the best candidate for president in the next 2024 presidential eoection. He must be young, intelligent, strong empathetic and militant in fighting for the welfare of the workers. These criteria fit to Mr. Anies Basweda,n according to union (KSPI) chairman, Mr. Said Iqbal.
JAKARTA | KBA – The workers’ support for the 2024 presidential candidate was discussed at the 5th Congress of the KSPI (Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions) in Jakarta.
The 5th KSPI congress, which was attended by 300 people from 32 provinces and 100 regencies/cities representing 2.2 million KSPI members throughout Indonesia, has actually been taking place since yesterday, 11 – 13 January 2022.
“As before, the KSPI Congress will also discuss matters relating to the presidential and vice presidential elections,” said KSPI President Said Iqbal to KBA News in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Best Province in Labor Welfare
DKI Jakarta is the province with the highest level of worker welfare and social security for workers nationally, referring to the 2021 Employment Development Index (GPA) data from the Ministry of Manpower.
This achievement is inseparable from the commitment of Governor Anies Baswedan, who for the past four years has placed the welfare of workers as one of his government’s priorities.
Having a GPA of 76.11 in 2021, the welfare level of the workforce in the Capital City outperforms other provinces throughout Indonesia, such as Central Java, West Java and East Java.
In fact, with this GPA value, DKI Jakarta is also one of the seven provinces with upper middle status. Meanwhile, Central Java’s GPA was only 59.60, West Java (56.77) and East Java (55.35) were included in the lower middle class province category.
It is known that the welfare of workers and social security for workers is one of the indicators of the GPA assessment. In addition, there is manpower, population and manpower planning.
GPA is also measured based on job opportunities, training and work competence, labor productivity, industrial relations, working environment conditions and wages.
In 2020, DKI Jakarta also became the province with the best GPA. At that time, the Capital City won three awards at once, namely the Best GPA in First Rank based on Medium Employment Affairs with an index of 78.29.
Then, the award for the province with the Best GPA in the Main Indicators of Employment Opportunities, and the Best GPA in the Main Indicators of Labor Social Security. DKI Jakarta is back out as a province with the Employment Development Index (GPA) ranked one in 2021.
The secret of success and the best
At that time, Governor Anies said that this achievement was the result of the joint work of all parties who seek to realize the welfare of the citizens of Jakarta.
“This is the result of colossal work. “Hundreds of friends, even thousands of people, are behind the scenes in improving the welfare of workers, making equal distribution of job opportunities and their families,” said Governor Anies.
Jakarta, said Governor Anies, continues to be committed to realizing social justice for its citizens. One of them is by establishing a collaborative ecosystem between job seekers, companies, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
So far, the program that has been carried out by the Provincial Government in the employment sector is the Pre-Employment Card, where workers can get food at affordable prices, and can use public transportation for free.
Likewise, the Jakpreneur program not only trains entrepreneurs, but also provides access to capital according to their capacity and business plans.
During a pandemic like now, the Provincial Government also launched a Large-Scale Social Collaboration (KSBB) program in the MSME sector. Here, various parties are brought together to help donate voluntarily, both teaching services, training, business necessities, capital for the community to open independent businesses,
Winning consecutively for two years is a consideration for the workers to determine their best choice to be supported in the presidential contest in 2024.However, Said Iqbal said, if the previous KSPI support was carried out with a political contract, but not in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. “In the 2024 election, there will be no political contract for KSPI,” he said.
Said Iqbal then divulged the criteria for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates to be supported by KSPI, namely young, intelligent and sided with the welfare of the workers.
“Young candidates and vice presidential candidates, under 50 years old, are intelligent and of course sided with the little people,” said Said Iqbal.
Later, KSPI’s support will be left entirely to the political process within the Labor Party. “But in the process, KSPI proposed to the Labor Party to hold a presidential and cawares convention,” he added.
According to Said Iqbal, KSPI will fight to win the presidential and vice presidential candidates who will later be supported by the Labor Party.
Said Iqbal is optimistic that all KSPI members on industrial bases will give significant votes for the victory of the presidential and vice presidential candidates who are supported by the Labor Party.
However, Said Iqbal does not want to divulge openly the figure of the presidential candidate with the criteria as mentioned above because the excuse for the 2024 presidential election is still long.
Whether a young, intelligent and siding with the welfare of the workers is the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan is still a secret, said Iqbal. (kba)
