Having lived in Jakarta for almost half a century, this is the first time Ilham Bintang claims to have seen a pedestrian bridge (JPO) as grand as the JPO ‘Phinisi Ship’ on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman.
A piece of roofed area is a picture of the deck of the Phinisi Boat. We are like sailing in the middle of Jalan Thamrin. Phinisi sails on the Thamrin-Sudirman traffic. Extraordinary. This philosophy, we are traversing Jakarta, traversing the veins of Jakarta, Sudirman-Thamrin.
JAKARTA | KBA – Running a pedestrian bridge (JPO) Karet Sudirman, Central Jakarta, which is majestic in the form of a Phinisi Ship, amazed Ilham Bintang.
The senior journalist in one of the mass media, repeatedly said extraordinary things while walking through the JPO Kapal Phinisi step by step, the fruit of the revitalization that was intensified by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
“This JPO is specially designed to inspire the Phinisi Boat, that’s why it is known as the Phinisi pedestrian bridge,” he said through a YouTube show quoted by KBA News, Sunday, January 16, 2022.
From the point where he stood at the JPO, Ilham Bintang’s eyes went to and explained the way to the HI Roundabout, then turned his body and showed another direction, namely the direction to Kebayoran.
A moment later, Ilham Bintang’s eyes fell on a place above which really depicted the Phinisi Boat.
“This people crossing bridge is amazing. Inspire people in Jakarta to be more creative, more empowered, more passionate about life,” he said.
Ilham Bintang was again amazed, because he had never seen a JPO as grand as that. There is a bridge on the 2nd floor. “This is amazing. I’ve never seen anything like this,” he said.
According to Ilham Bintang, the Phinisi Ship JPO could become an icon like his childhood when he first came to Jakarta, which stuck in his head were the icons of the Semanggi Bridge, Wisma Nusantara, Hotel Indonesia, and the Welcome Roundabout.
The Phinisi Ship JPO stretches from Jalan Bendungan Hilir to Karet. Very wide, about three meters. There is an elevator that connects waders to the hotel. Also connects to the busway. In addition, there is a bicycle path for people who do not drive a car or motorbike.
Seeing it all, Ilham Bintang said, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan seems really obsessed with making the symbol of integrating transportation modes in Jakarta as an icon of the progress of the capital city.
“Wow that’s amazing. I’ve never come across Jakarta like this, even though I’ve been here for almost half a century,” he said in awe.
Ilham Bintang also emphasized that the slogan “Advanced the City, Happy the Citizens” had really materialized.
He admitted that he felt it after trying to travel with friends using the MRT transportation mode which is integrated with the busway and the newest pedestrian bridge, inspired by the Phinisi Boat, typical of South Sulawesi.
After asking the officers for permission to experience the JPO on the highest floor with a boat-like model and seeing the length of Sudirman Street, Ilham Bintang immediately went upstairs. “This JPO of Phinisi Ships is unique,” he continued.
“A piece of roofed area is a picture of the deck of the Phinisi Boat. We are like sailing in the middle of Jalan Thamrin. Phinisi sails on the Thamrin-Sudirman traffic. Extraordinary. This philosophy, we are traversing Jakarta, navigating the veins of Jakarta, Sudirman-Thamrin,” he explained.
Ilham Bintang hopes that the Phinisi Ship JPO will be utilized by the residents as well as possible and make them happy.
“Every time you cross, you get tired, you are tired, you work all day and here you get inspiration that pumps the spirit to get back to work well,” he hoped.
He also congratulated DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. “Legacy of Anies Baswedan on this Phinisi pedestrian bridge,” he concluded. (kba)
