Without any fuss, the revitalization of TIM as a cultural ecosystem that will function as a Big House for national culturalists is almost complete. Artist Jose hopes that after the revitalization of TIM is complete, it can be more exciting for the growth and development of the world of art and culture, both in Jakarta and other regions in Indonesia to be displayed in TIM.
So, Jakarta will soon have a center point with various cultural activities and a center for activities of national artists. An important ‘third space’ will be present.
JAKARTA | KBA – From Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) many great works and well-known artists have been born. Its existence is dedicated not only to Jakarta’s artists, but also to all corners of the country.
Jose Rizal Manua, an arts and culture activist who has struggled with TIM since 1972, said that when TIM was first built, great works of Indonesian artists emerged, including Rendra, Teguh Karya, Arifin C Noer, Farida Faisol, Sardono W Kusuma, Wuriah Adam, Dewa Brata, Tri Suci, Yuliati Kamal, Yusuf K Harjana, and others.
So is lenong. Initially, the performance was all night long, once they entered TIM, they were then condensed by Jaya Kusuma, Sumantri, Sastro Suwondo, and SM Hardan.
“They condensed lenong, which previously played on the outskirts, can play in TIM. Modern people also like lenong because it is maximally created,” said Jose, adding that Srimulat was able to attend TIM with his works that were always packed with audiences.
Jose shared this story when he was contacted by KBA News, as when he talked about the revitalization of TIM which was broadcast on the Story Human YouTube account recently.
Jose hopes that after the revitalization of TIM is complete, it can be more exciting for the growth of the world of art and culture, both in Jakarta and other regions in Indonesia to be displayed in TIM.
“After the revitalization, TIM will become a comfortable place for artists to create and create,” he said.
Jose admits that he has travelled the world. Visiting various art centers in various countries, holding performances with the Indonesian Theater in various places.
From this experience, Jose believes that, after the revitalization, TIM will become the best arts center in the world.
“I think artists will have an honorable place at the Jakarta Arts Center (TIM), because this revitalization really takes into account or thinks about the fate of artists,” said Jose.
Jose also advised artists throughout Indonesia to be able to take advantage of TIM’s buildings with superior works owned in their respective provinces.
The team, which is being revitalized and is expected to be completed in the next few months, said Jose, is indeed intended for artists not only in Jakarta but also in the archipelago, even in the world.
“Soon we will have a theater building, an arts center, one of the best in the world with very modern and complete facilities,” he said.
Jose also believes that the art world will grow tremendously. Not only in the fields of literature, theatre, dance, music, fine arts, film, nowadays there are also great young figures growing.
For Jose, it will be able to fill the Jakarta Arts Center (TIM) after the revitalization. It will enrich the art repertoire and many surprises will emerge after the revitalization, such as when TIM was first built.
