The election of Jakarta as the venue for E-Formula world car-racing because this tournament uses electric vehicles, vehicles of the future. Mobility of people using electric power, namely vehicles that are more friendly to the environment. Campaigning for the climate change issues while promoting the economy of the country in a natural and proper way.
With the Formula E tournament, it is also hoped that the Indonesian electric vehicle industry will grow. Including Indonesia becoming a producer of raw materials for batteries (lithium).
Their accusations are clearly misdirected because Formula E’s budget is different from the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the payment of Formula E fees was made before the Covid-19 pandemic, namely in 2019.
JAKARTA | KBA – The city of Jakarta has been designated as the host of the electric car race or Formula E which will take place in June 2022. Various preparations have been made by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the organizing committee, such as the location for the construction of the race circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta.
The success of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in making this ‘Ondel-ondel City’ the host of this international event is still being slandered by his political opponents, by expressing the opinion that this Formula E event is Anies’ project to advance as a Presidential Candidate (Capres) in the Presidential Election (Pilpres) 2024.
“The formula is the budget is determined through the Regional Regulation and Regional Budget and has been determined as a program. It is not forced, but this is a regional regulation that has been established and the task of the governor is to implement all statutory provisions, including regional regulations, and one of the regional regulations that must be implemented is the regional regulation on Formula E,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan on the YouTube channel ‘Total Politics’ quoted by KBA News in Jakarta, Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Governor Anies explained, this Formula E event was not carried out just like that, but through careful consideration and calculation, including taking into account the economic impact for the residents of DKI Jakarta.
“If we spend, for example, a budget of Rp. 100 thousand, then we hope that with Rp. 100 thousand it will move the economy, so that the economy can spin, so we will feel that the community will benefit,” he said.
In addition, the former minister of education and culture continued, the budget issued by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government does not go to other countries, but is spent in Jakarta, namely by building facilities.
“So when a budget is issued, the question is where does it go? Where is it issued? When it is issued here, then it is actually issued to our own people, it revolves around us,” he said.
The former Rector of Paramadina University admitted that the agreement for the electric car race in Jakarta was for him and the DKI Provincial Government as a whole. However, this is solely for the economic interests of the citizens of Jakarta and Indonesia as a whole.
The election to formula E because this tournament uses electric vehicles, vehicles of the future. Mobility of people using electric power, namely vehicles that are more friendly to the environment.
With the Formula E tournament, it is also hoped that the Indonesian electric vehicle industry will grow. Including Indonesia becoming a producer of raw materials for batteries (lithium).
“So this is a tournament oriented towards our future,” he concluded.
Previously, PSI Chairman Giring Ganesha considered Formula E an ambitious project of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to run for the 2024 presidential election.
Constitutional mandate
The Indonesian public was shocked by the growing speculation related to the implementation of Formula E racing. Not a few who made criticism without being based on facts and data. Criticism is only based on hatred, so it leads more to slander than criticism.
One of the people who diligently criticizes slanderous and without data and facts is PSI General Chair Giring Ganesha.
This person criticizes blindly without being based on sufficient knowledge about the ins and outs of organizing Formula E racing. For example, the case of inspecting the location of the Formula E circuit which clearly shows Giring’s ignorance.
“It’s a shame (Giring) the time is really loose. If we are a bit busy, we don’t have enough time to go around, there’s no need,” said Anies as quoted by KBA News from the YouTube Channel ‘Total Politics in Jakarta, Friday, January 21, 2022.
In the video recording, Anies firmly explained that the implementation of Formula E racing, including the costs for its implementation, had been determined through a regional regulation (Perda).
This means that the implementation of Formula E racing has been discussed and approved and determined by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with the DKI Jakarta DPRD, where PSI and PDI-P, who often criticize, are part of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. The discussion and mutual agreement gave birth to a regional regulation on the implementation of Formula E, including the financing which was decided and determined using DKI Jakarta APBD funds.
“And the task of the governor is to carry out all the provisions of the legislation, including local regulations. There is a regional regulation regarding Formula E,” he said.
The former minister of education and culture continued, related to determining the location of the Formula E race is a technical matter. Initially, said Anies, the plan for the Formula E race circuit was in the Monas area, but due to the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the location determination did not occur, and was moved to the Ancol area, North Jakarta.
“Locating is a very technical thing, so it’s not like deciding on a World Cup, it’s very technical. Why does Formula E use electricity, so it needs a place where elevation matters, so things are very technical,” he explained.
The number one person in DKI Jakarta is optimistic that the construction of the electric car racing circuit will be completed before the month of implementation, namely on June 4, 2022.
Fee already paid
The Formula E racing event, which will take place in June 2022 in Jakarta, was made a fuss by the public, because the international event took place at a time when Indonesia, especially DKI Jakarta was facing a surge in the Covid-19 pandemic.
Worse yet, many of the political opponents accuse the money of financing the Formula E race to be inappropriate, because the citizens of Jakarta need the assistance of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in dealing with Covid-19.
Their accusations are clearly misdirected because Formula E’s budget is different from the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the payment of Formula E fees was made before the Covid-19 pandemic, namely in 2019.
“This is not imagination. This is factual. This is exactly what I have to answer. Pay (Formula E fees) before the (Covid-19) pandemic, which is 2019 and there are no signs that Covid-19 will occur,” said the Governor of DKI Jakarta on the podcast on the ‘Total Politics’ Channel, quoted by KBA News in Jakarta, Friday, January 21, 2022.
Anies explained that the initial plan for Formula E racing was in 2020, so that in 2019 the payment had already been made. Then due to a pandemic in 2020, Formula E racing was postponed to June 2022.
“But the payment has been made since 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
Thus, there is no right argument that the DKI Provincial Government wasted money during the pandemic for Formula E racing. In fact, when the pandemic occurred, the DKI Provincial Government had no longer spent money to pay for the rights to organize Formula E racing.
However, the number one person in DKI Jakarta did not deny the misleading public opinion regarding the payment of Formula E fees.
According to Anies, public opinion can change people’s perceptions if there are many who convey it. What’s worse, Anies continued, the people who conveyed the deviant opinion knew very well that the payment for the Formula E race had taken place in 2019.
“This is what I often experience. For example, this is plain water, but when there are 100 people who say that water is coffee, then the perception that is formed is that water is coffee,” he said.
“So when we made the payment (Formula E) in 2019 and I’m sure the people who questioned it also knew, but if everyone said this was an expense during a pandemic, then there was an opinion that the payment for Formula E was at a time when people were having a hard time dealing with the pandemic. This has to be straightened out,” Anies added.
Anies suggested that public figures who wish to express criticism related to Formula E or the problems that occur in this nation must be based on facts, not using fiction or slander.
“That if we give criticism, then use facts, don’t use fiction, let alone slander. Criticism must use facts, so that for those who listen to criticism it is useful,” he concluded.
Previously, political opponents and buzzers attacked Anies Baswedan because he was accused of wasting public money to pay for Formula E fees during the Covid-19 pandemic, even though the payment was made in 2019.
Even those who criticize him know that the payment process was done years ago.
